.05 is going to mean less than one drink per hour will get you to an illegal BAC. Is this a good idea or a good idea gone too far?
DENVER (CBS4)- The National Transportation Safety Board wants to decrease the drunk driving limit from .08 to .05. Determining how much is too much could get a little tricky if the lower levels are implemented. Those convicted of driving under the influence can face fines, jail time, community service and legal fees. It all adds up to more than $10,000. According to the Blood Alcohol Calculator, a woman who weighs 150 pounds and drinks a 12-ounce beer would have a BAL of .022 within an hour. But if that same woman consumes two beers her BAL jumps to .062 which would be over the proposed limits.
